January Sales.....fill my boots

Well following the last post, i have pulled things back. Had a remarkable morning where I won hand after hand, including destroying a guys whole buy-in ($80) within 10 minutes headsup @ Om8$2/$4. He wasnt that good at Poker and seemed to have a bit of a spelling problem too cause when he lost the last hand he wrote "fckn cnut" in the chat box which I didn't understand........probably Danish for something along the lines of "well played sir" . Surprisingly he didnt reload.
Pulled the whole lot I lost yesterday back at one point, although I slumped slightly to finish just $220 up for the day.
This bonus still needs another 200MPPs and i have only a few hours left to get them or I lose the whole $500 bonus, so really am playing as though it is a job now........least thats what i told the wife.

I'll do a whole analysis tomorrow on January's profit/loss, hourly rate , best game and all that stuff.

Tilty -tilt

In My chase for the Monthly Bonus , I have had to thrash away at PokerPlex and did so for of couple of hours for a small profit of 50 or 60. Then I started to go backwards and lost the profit and then slipped into the red. I wasnt bothered , its all part of the normal swings associated with cash, but then I began a run where everything started to go wrong. I was hitting 2nd nuts and getting drawn out on all the time or getting quartered time after time. I just couldn't win and felt as though my play was suffering, I wasnt chasing , but felt i kept making the odd wrong play. Maybe folding a winning hand when the odds were there to call or betting out when only a better hand was going to call.
When the dust settled i was over $250 down and a bit dejected with poker and my play.
Got up this morning and thought...... fresh start, time to drag it back. An hour later I was another $100+ down ! I am on the way to losing all my bonus in the chase to get it.....which does seem a bit pointless. I have rallied a bit now and am going to focus this evening and avoid the mistakes.

Added Value and freerolls

Playing in a big comp is something I haven't yet done , but do think I should have by now.
I can't really justify buying in directly for one, so will have to win one. I dont understand these satellites into them, why not just play a cash game or other tourney and if you win enough then use that to buy-in.
In fact apart from live tourneys i hardly play any tournaments where there isn't 'added' value. Often play the Blue Square league events @ 8:15 Sun thru Thur and then any other bonus events.
I find freerolls to be a bit frustrating, there are a few that play for 1 seat and you get several hundred players. Well I aint sitting there playing my usual waiting game for 2 or 3 hours to bust out for nothing deep into the tournament. So I usually play these hard and fast, not necessarily crazy , but very aggressive and try to get at least 5 x starting stack as quickly as possible. I might then think I have more of a chance and ease off the accelerator a little, but not too much as I intend to play these for the win. I will still limp in as often as possible with any kind of hand that might catch and play my big hands very hard pre-flop and post flop. After the flop i am going to bet and re-raise with any draws, and always put the opponents to the test.
There is a bonus one tonight on Blue Square which is $0+$2.50 with rebuys @$25. So will play this hard early and hope the deck hits me in the face, but will not bother with the rebuys.
Played two comps last night the Will Hill £3.5k added and totally blew it when i was 9/91 from original 400 and ended up going out 71st. Also played the Blondepoker freeroll on Gala last night for a GBPT seat @ Edinburgh and played crazy loose going up n down like a yo-yo before crashing out 18/89.
Got to go and bash away on Pokerplex to get my monthly bonus MPP requirement met, so deal em fast.

Playing Live in 2008

So for the first time this year I have played live and the last two nights have involved a bit of live play at the two extremes. A low almost underworld Pub game Friday night and then a trip to B'pool G casino on Saturday.
Nice to be able to report a bit of success both nights. In brief, came 3rd on Friday night and a small win on a very loose cash table for only £40 but a win is a win. Last night I came 6th @ B'pool for £330, although by the time ive paid Honeymonster his 25% and take off buy-in and rebuy I have only a £140 profit.
The Pub game was full of poorer players so wont bother with any hands from then , but going to spin 3 of the hands from Yesterday now.
1st one is with about 15 players left Blinds (1k/2k) and i'm in BB. Strangely for this level 3 players limp in so pot is 9k. I have J3 of hearts. Flop comes down A,10,2 with 2 hearts , I am fairly short stacked and decide , there is only an ace can call me if I push my last 10.5k and some might be squeezed out.Larger than life Howard Plant is first to act and dwells, well talks none stop about his decision. Eventually decides to call, rest fold. Before we flip, he says i haven't got anything, to which I reply"neither have I". I couldn't wish him to have better cards 4,7 of hearts for a lower flush draw and the board brought nothing so my Jack high stood up.
I squeeze onto the final table in 8th place out of 9 and am drawn in first to act position, with blinds at 3k/6k , I decide i have to act and so make my mind up to push my last 17k rather than face having to call on my BB the next hand.I look at my first card only and see it is a Queen. All folded to SB who calls as does the BB. Flop comes 5,6,Q and I think "hey I might win this", soon shattered as SB bets , BB folds and he flips 5,5 for trips. Turn 6 , river 6 , someone says "Unlucky mate", but Im the only one at the table thats noticed and push forward my Queen, thank you poker lord for I have actually won with runner, runner for the higher FH.
I pinch a couple of blinds and get no callers when i small raise with AA and then this hand comes up. Im in BB with 55k and have 88. Pro player Dave'nice'Mayall raises 20k from early position. I dwell figure his range includes any pair here and AK,AQ,AJ so repop him. He calls with 10,10 and leaves me with 7k. Was this the right play? I dont know, he was the only player at the table I felt was as strong as me and if id won i would have been able to move up the pay ladder considerably and have a realistic chance of winning it and £1800, so maybe. But on the other hand I had a fair few chips and could maybe have waited for a spot where I could have been the aggressor or a greater favourite. Im unsure now about this play, think I should have waited, with a low stack and two very passive players at the table. Any comments welcome here.

Honeymonster and a few are going to Newcastle next w/end for a good looking comp, but I cant see me getting a ticket out for what will have to be a very family unsociable midday departure.
Other news is that Snapper played the Pokerplex satellite for the 40k for me. 5 seats with only 14 runners this week, and he did the business . Forgot to take a screenshot to match last weeks qualification. I said he could play it , but i think he has left me to play, and we are 50/50 on any cash.

Love...Love will tear us apart...again

1981, Joy Division...if not my favourite all time song , definitely a dessert island disc.
Last night I went off to bed about midnight and switched on to find this little 2 hour documentary on 'Factory' records label from Manchester and the whole story from Joy Division thru to the creation of the Hacienda nightclub and onto Happy Mondays....My generation totally. Completely absorbing and some great sound clips and interviews. The tragic story of lead singer Ian Wilson and his slide towards suicide and the way New Order was kindled out of the ashes was great.
Funny story along the way was how Ian had gone to the Doctors to be diagnosed with severe epilepsy. The Doc turned to him and said " you need to get plenty of sleep, no late nights. Avoid Loud Music and Flashing lights, and keep away from alcohol and drugs." " What do you do for a living?" , To which he got the reply " I am lead singer in a Punk Rock band! " LOL Brilliant.
Also told how New Order became the first band to play LIVE on Top of the Pops, and how there sales actually went down because they sounded so awful. And then after the show Bono of U2 said "hey man i really respect you for doing that, I wish we'd done it too". To which the whole band replied " well why the fuck didn't you !"

As for the Poker, not much to report on really. I've kept earning the MPPs but will need to speed up a bit to get the bonus before the end of the month. Tried to satellite into the European Deepstack Omaha tourney last night on Blue Square , but played like a girl. Folded my BB when I only had <4 BB left and had K9. Pussy play as there were only 2 seats available , I would have lost anyway but thats not the point, i had a couple of chances to push first in , but bottled it because of weak cards. Need to have a more cavalier attitude in these sats with few prizes
Have come 3rd and 6th in two Om8 tourneys both about 150 runners , which makes 3 final tables on the run in Omaha, but not a great cash reward as only $5 and $10 buyins.
Anyway off to play live in town at a new venue for us around with Sneaks, dont know what it is , but cash games after are supposed to be a bit loose ~MMMmmmm. And tomorrow off to Blackpool 'G' with Honeymonster to play in their £50 (+1rb/addon) which has all the makings of a good tourney.

Live Play, cant beat it, deal 'em good !

Making a dreary life intersting.

Since I started this I have become aware of how mundane and plain old dull my writing is. I showed it my 5 year old Daughter yesterday and she smiled her heartbreaking way when she saw my pic. So I got her to start reading some of it and she must have lasted half the first line ( admittedly this took about 10 minutes for her to read) before she lost total interest.

On BlondePoker, there are a couple of "diary/blog" type threads that show how the most mundane of topics can become a must read.
The first is by Tom McCreedy, otherwise known as Red Dog, who is a player on the UK Poker circuit. http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=30601.0
And then the Man himself Tikay Kendall has also a diary up that is now almost 200 pages long. http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=25486.0.
Their topics of conversation vary from driftwood, roma caravans, latest epitaphs, price of rail tickets, best roads in the UK, cheese and even occasionally a bit of poker. It is a combination of good descriptive writing and an pair of minds that see fascination and interest where there is no right to be any.
I dont want to drift off the poker , because i started this blog to help me focus on the poker but i may every now and then make reference to something that 'crops' up that i cant let lie without a mention. Unfortunately I rarely travel much these days , so it could be very dreary aspects of Furness life that i disect.

As for the Poker, I played Sunday night in the $10 entry , 20.000 entrants on Stars that generates $200,000 prize pool for $10 entry !!!! Never got going and didn't even make the top 15,000 LOL.
Also had the £40k on Crypto that i had got into with that ridiculous value freeroll. I made it to 100 left when I pushed with A10 into a big stack stealing my blind. He felt compelled to call, although I do think he should have left it , especially as he flipped over A2.
" YES" I thought.
"YES" again I thought as the flop brought a 10.
"I cant lose this now, unless it comes turn 2 river 2...oh that is NOT going to happen."
"BUT.... I suppose it could come with 2 more hearts to give him the flush?"
Turn is 5 of hearts. "Oh NO it is going too"
River 3 of hearts. "Knew it !!".

Shame as well in a tourney with a first prize of +£10k.
I decided to pull the plug on the pokerstars Sunday Million game as i was feeling too tired and didnt fancy an all nighter till 8 the next morning. Ive saved the Tournament $s and will have to decide whether I should use them in one big prize tourney or just flitter them away with small tourneys.

Till next time, deal 'em up.

3 out of 3

Today I had to go and revisit the hospital, for my first check since the operation 10 weeks ago. And I go the three things I was hoping for too.

1. Everything is Good with the new hip, I suspected so but good to get the x-ray and have it confirmed medically.

2. Dr. said I can drive again. Can finally get out of the house when I want.

3. Dr. signed me off until Easter. Which was a bit of a no brainer really as I still cant walk without a big limp, let alone run PE lessons. After Easter it is all Rounders, Cricket , Athletics so a lot easier.

Didn't play much this evening, but what i did was quality. About half an hour on PokerPlex Om8 $2/4 tables for about $100 profit and then found a pokerplex freeroll to the Sunday £40k. It was for Plex players only who have earnt 200 MPPs in the last week. But get this they are offering 5x£120 seats and 11 entered !!

With 7 left I had to take on a fellow short stack with KK v his AQ, but apart from that didnt really play a hand.
So now Sunday night I have got 2x£100+ tourneys to look forward to.

Deal'em good and it might yet be a very profitable month

Screenshots and being railed

Well here we go , in an attempt to liven my blog up and also a small brag about this win, I have put a screen shot in. Well that was the idea, but couldn't do it so Snapper sent me the file image. Im such a techno reject !
Will try and get one done properly next time and am also gonna learn how to put hand histories up with the card pics.
Snapper joined me to rail on this one with 4 left and we were on the bubble for about 40 minutes with everyone all-in at least once. Played a super aggresive guy heads-up , who eventually trapped/donked off his chips to me. It is good having someone on msn while you play these finals, he didnt confuse me by trying to give any advice but just the support is nice and helps to keep you focused. Hope you enjoyed it Snapps !
I will post all my good wins with screenshots if possible~~~~ a picture says a thousand words and all that.

Tourney mode

I was just getting a bit bored of constant Om8 cash games, so have kept off them for the most part today and played a heap of tourneys.

I ran well in a lot of them until the later stages without getting a real good cash. All Stars tourneys.

$5PLO8 ~ 4th of 123 for $55
$20HORSE ~ 7th of 44 (Bubbled!)
$10NLHE ~ 200ish of 700 ( unbeleivable BB with KK v J10, K on flop too)
$10PLO ~ 10th of 188 for $20

So going deep but not really cashing, and I made an effort today to go for top places and not sit out for a higher ladder place.

Did fiinally get a bit of success in a satellite for the Sunday Million tourney in a 400FPP rebuy, which cost me 1200 total. Funny thing was with just one to go , I got dealt KK on the button and I was contemplating whether to move in with it, when the bubble burst on the other table with a short stack so i pushed knowing my seat was safe. It would have been a mistake as SB & BB were bigger stacks and blinds if player hadnt busted , especially as in those Stars turbos , you have to pay real attention to blind rises and check who is manipulating the clock.

Dont know whether to play or take the tourney dollars, might play it as I have only played it the once and that was a few years ago when it wasnt gauranteed (or make ) the 1$Million.

Now a high plave in that would liven up this blog.

Used to get a bonus for them, i had 3 in the old crypto days, thats probably about my 8th now, never a live one yet though.

PAHUD up and running .....at last

I bought this software about 4 months ago and have only got it going today after countless emails back and forth between me and their support ( which was excellent , like Poker Tracker's).
For those who dont know what it does it enables the stats from Poker Tracker to be displayed directly onto the Table screen by each player. Here are some screen shots of it working:-
http://pokeracesoftware.com/hud/screenshots.php

I have a lot of stats on some of the regular players at PokerPlex and Stars now and need to begin to analyse their play. Dont quite know how to do this efficiently, think I may have to head over to the 2+2 forums and find out what is best.

Had PAHUD up now for 30 minutes and down $40 ...GREAT! Deal us another lucky hand.

The Bonus Chase

I've mentioned it a few times , but it does seem important these days where i am playing at lower stakes than the past and players are better than the past.
So here is where I play and what I get:

PokerPlex (Cryptologic) ~ 30%+ rakeback and $500 monthly bonus(3400MPPs)
Classic Poker (Cryptologic) ~ 30% rakeback and $1/15MPPs Tournament Sponsorship
Littlewoods (Cryptologic) ~ <30% rakeback and £100 bonus(1000MPPs I think)
Pokerstars ~ FPP & VPP scheme (current Gold Status)

I dont have any other deals at moment, really would like one on ipoker network ( Blue Square especially) but it is all a bit hazy if they do them or not.
Pokerstars offer the best choice of games , with Om8 nearly always having several games/levels to choose from, and I have raked probably $1500 there already this month... on Crypto this would have got me $500 in rakeback but Stars gives me nothing except these FPPs, which are hard to put a price on, but my 7000 is a lot less than $500, more like $100 . This FPP scheme though offers comparatively very little value though unless you get to Supernova or Supernova Elite levels.Littlewoods Bonus is good in terms of MPPs to $ value but it hasnt appeared in my promotions account last month or this.
So in all I will stick to getting the PokerPlex Bonus mainly through playing Om8 2/4 when the tabels get going in the afternoon or evening. Outside of this time will go play Stars but just the one or two tabels as i am sure the games here are tougher and i need to focus more here to say level or ahead.
Yesterday was a good day about $100 clawed back at Stars and a slight profit at Plex with heaps of MPPs.

Stay Lucky

Downswing

I was chatting to a mate on the phone and just started doing my ASDA online shopping list, when a Pokerstars 2/4 table i had been waiting on came available. I logged in and seconds later I was invited into a 3/6 game as well.
Great 10 minutes later i was $100+ down. Dont know how it happened just seemed to lose or get quartered on every river . Maybe i wasn't concentrating because of the phone call , Im not sure. However put the phone down and decided to focus and get it back. Hmmm, it just kept coming river after river pinching me of some if not all of the pot each time. I felt i I was playing fine and i'm sure in particularly on the 3/6 game i was running real bad, but the stacks kept dissapearing. At one stage i was about $260 down after only 40 minutes play, rallied for a little bit and ended about $170 down. However a very dissapointing hour, maybe I should set a stop/loss limit on these games.
Played Crypto for a while tonight again and gained another 200MPPs and about $60 profit. But yet again January isn't proving to be the rich golden highway i was hoping for. A family trip to Florida and a boys trip to Vegas is seeming miles off at the moment.

Rakeback and Losers

I had noticed that i had not received any rakeback at all for Dec at Pokerplex and emailed them about it when others on the site said they had all got theirs. I got an email back saying "sure it will all be sorted for Jan", I said thanks very much what about Dec? They replied back " Oh , we can only process it from Jan onwards". Cheeky skankers, they had sent me email advertising their rakeback back in November and was the whole reason i started playing there. Let them know this and bingo, email and my rakeback arrived this morning. $400 of it, which was a little more than i had expected which is always nice.

As for my play today gained another $80 & 200 FPPs at Stars. Then blew all that playing for several hours on PokerPlex. Played mainly Limit 2/4 Omaha8. Also a bit of PL Omaha8 which i haven't played for about a week and I just didnt feel comfortable with for some reason and was playing very tight especially post-flop.
Still I managed to gain about $50 and then this hand came up, which just shows the variance in Omaha.
I am mid position with A,K,10,2 suited in hearts and spades and call a raise to $3, about 5 stay for the flop. J,9,3 all hearts looks good for me as i have K,10 hearts for second nuts, gutshot to straight flush and still lo hand possiblilities. Under the gun bets the pot for $15 only has $7 left, next player pushed his last $6 into the pot, so i figure i have to call with my odds, however last to act then re-pushed for his last $33 , so it is another $18 to call and I cant pass for a pot of $90. All 4 players had a heart flush !! but you guessed it last to act had the Ace flush and my profit has gone.
Hand shows the vulneribility in PL/NL games when having to make decisions with others to act. Did I play it right ? Im not sure to be honest.

Great chat later on Pokerplex from the regulars about how many players are really winners at the site and i am in agreement , that it cant be many without the Bonus and rakeback at the lower levels. Some of these guys crack me up the way they complain over every bad beat and how the site is rigged , yet they are there every day !

"Shut up and deal some more" I say

Gold Status Baby !

Just reached the Gold Star status on Pokerstars , so now I get double the FPPs, up to 6k+ so far this month, and can buy a few better things from the reward shop.

Next step is 10,000 for Platinum star. If i keep doing all right will probably play to get this before the month is out.

Keep dealing and stay Lucky

Deep Stack ? is it what you really want?

2 years ago i played one of the Pokerstars "deep stacks" tourneys. It was a 300 runner , 5000 chip job with half hour blinds and i thought would give lots of play. It sure did give lots of play ~ almost 6 hours of play for me to finish on the bubble.

I thought after that , NEVER again.

Well last night something possessed me and i signed up for a $20 deep stack PL Om8 tourney on stars. This time 7 and a half bloody hours and although i made the final table for about $100 , i had just had enough and was almost glad to get knocked out.
NEVER AGAIN !

I was thinking of giving the European Deep stack tourneys a go http://www.greenjokerpoker.com/edpc2008.html, with 50,000 chips and a Hour blind, means i could sit out the first two days and still be in the tourney !!
Do i really want to play that long for nothing?
Tempted for the Omaha though, if i can drive by then i will probably go and play it.

As for the online cash, has been going steady picking up a little at Stars and just stuck for about $50 now. On Crypto played about 300 MPPs and will need to get on there and ensure i complete the $500 bonus as soon as possible, just the 3100 MPPs to go !

Next time i will chat about the Blue Square league, and my thoughts on value tourneys and sats.

Keep dealing and Stay Lucky

Reallity Check ! Winning matters !

I dont know quite how it has happened , but my stack has shrunk. Think the pokerstar gremlins have been pinching from it while asleep.
Well maybe i should just have a look at what i have won? Oh hold on im losing , now down $290 in 5 days ! That works out at only 0.72 BB/100hands, but nevertheless it is a loss. and I joked about the pokerstars gremlins , but this is their rake machine stealing from every hand i play. According to Poker Tracker i have raked about $4488 so far on the tables i have played at in 5 days, which is about $800 attributed to me. Pokerstars must make so much money every hour/day/month , their tables are busy 24/7 and last month at one point they had over 150,000 players on the site at one moment !!!!
The FPP reward programme isnt offering anywhere near the value i should get. So to justify playing at Stars I need to be winning. I think playing upto 6 tables at once is making me a losing player, so i am going to concentrate on just the one table and actually focusing on the table players and getting my Poker Tracker and Heads up display working properly.
Just had a hour single table session and up $79 , so maybe this is the way to go.
Also cant justify playing at Stars as much, so will look to get the pokerplex bonus and rakeback going again, and play there when they have the 2/4 Omaha Hi/Lo tables going.
Had to turn down an offer to play at B'pool on Saturday night due to family plans. They have just started a £50 (+1 add-on or rebuy) that i think could become very popular and certainly is the sort of regular live game i am looking for. I have had some shocking bad beats in live play recently with runner, runner beating me in 4 seperate incidents for big pots i can think of in the last few outings.

Saturday 5 January 2008

Silver status Baby !

January is 4 days old and i am now Silver Star status on the Pokerstars Frequent Player programme. Ive never really payed much attention to it before, probably because ive never really played there that much. It isnt the best value of reward programmes as Pokerstars offers no rakeback deals at all. However it is definitely the most comprehensive, details here: http://www.pokerstars.com/vip/tiers/ .
Everyone starts at Bronze and works there way up through Silver, Gold, Platinum, Supernova and Supernova Elite levels.
Points (FPPs) are gained through raked hands and to reach the highest levels requires incredible amount of play on the highest of tables !
However a few have reached Supernova Elite status and some have even bought a Porsche as one of there rewards using the FPPs !!
The FPP scheme rewards regular players and the higher you go in status the greater and faster you can earn more FPPs. So getting to Silver status now means i earn FPPs half as fast again. Im anticipating reaching the Gold Star status by Monday sometime and then I earn double FPPs. Platinum Star status ( if I stick it out ) should arrive sometime towards the 20th !

As far as my actual play goes it hasnt proved to be as successful as i had hoped ( predicted). I started with $650 on 1st and have basically gone up n down +/- $100 continuously , except for a little spell where i lost $208 in 40 minutes . So I am now sitting on $498, down $152 after 4 days hard graft!
It has been frustrating , every time i get a little run together and stack size goes up i suffer an equally poor run. I feel as though I am better than the game, but the figures are not indicating that and I will need to see how things go over the next 5 to 10 thousand hands.

But for the time being , just keep dealing.

Following the Gravy Train

So, I have all the time in the world !

Not exactly true as i have a 5 yo daughter and 1 yo son to look after and a wife to not ignore too much. Not the ideal 'single without a care in the world' lifestyle that would enable me to play when ever i wanted, needed or liked to.

Still I can play a fair bit, so might as well make the most of it. Question then is where and what should i play. Intend to go and play the odd live game, usually at B'pool Grosvenor, but might get about a bit if possible for an attractive structure/buy-in.
Mainly though it is going to be online. And i used to be a fair STT player at Littlewoods where i had a pretty good rakeback and sponsorship deal. That has gone now, so need to look at other ptions as i feel the STT standard has risen a lot, not too sure this is what i will go for as my stable game. In fact it soon became obvious that i needed a game that would let me reach bonus and rakeback targets more easily.
I plumped for the offer of Pokerplex, which was a rakeback of 30%+ and a $500 bonus on reaching 3400MPPs.
So December started and i set off with this in mind and then realise i could also make a fair bit if I won too! This bit hadn't really dawned on me, until i went the first 6 sessions up and about $500 up in 4 days. Then the ups and downs started to happen and i ended the month no further ahead. I did reach the MPPs so gained the bonus and will also receive a similar amount in rakeback next month.
Final figures from December ( games are all Omaha high or Omaha Hi/Lo )
Played : 14,155
Won : $342.69
BB/100 : 1.87

Hardly the stats of a potential poker millionaire. However i decided for January i would stick with them and get the bonus and rake back deal again.
However Pokerplex have totally screwed up there Jan Bonus on the ecash screen and it is still not available at time of writing.

Hence i am now hammering the Omaha8 Limit games at Pokerstars.

Multi-table crazy !Keep dealing me in all 6 hands !

Current Poker playing status

I have been an online player since the beginning of 2002. 5 years or so now~ guess that makes me a veteran in the online poker world.
Started playing at school many years ago into the VIth form , University and then really stopped playing through just other things in life and lack of opportunities/awareness.Discovering online poker has brought it all back to me and i now play regularly live as well as constantly online to annoy the wife ( somehow she doesn't understand ).
I am a PE teacher in the world of life, but have recently been declared a human in need of a 40 year old service and this has had to include a hip replacement. I know " way to bloody young to have that done" but all the bashing away at sport i have done for 40 years has brought me medical problems through arthritis in my hips rather than life long health. Wouldn't have changed a moment though and really miss the adrenalin of competitive sport these days. Poker is a substitute, but in no way matches the all consuming passion i had when involved in the physical battles of sport.
This little operation has meant i have been sidelined from my job for a few months ( probably until Easter ) and i intend to make use of this time to see how the life of full-time player sits with me.
I had the operation at the end of November and have been playing at Cryptologic and pokerstars a fair bit since then. More of that later, but for now deal me one more hand.

Welcome

I am writing this blog for myself more than anyone, but if you have happened to chance upon it ~ Welcome and I hope you enjoy my Poker based thoughts and experiences!
