Time Out

Went 6 days without playing any Poker!!

Mainly due to a Stag 'DO' in Glasgow which in effect wiped out 4 days and the fact I have reached the $200 bonus, but aint going to make the $500 for March, so no great need to play. Will play only a little next couple of days, as it is mates wedding tomorrow.

Will do an end of Month accounts next and prepare myself to get back onto track in April, oh and of course back to work

The Play @ DTD

So my actual play at DTD, was quite good , although at the end of the day I didn't cash in the tourney and played 4 hours of cash, finishing a massive £2 down.

The tourney started with me hitting the 2nd Nut Flush on the turn of the second hand, but managed to resist raising and so kept the pot small and when the 4th Diamond hit the river , I managed to escape with a very minimum loss to the K high flush also made on the turn. In fact I played really well winning without showing a hand for 2 hours and managed to get my stack from 4k upto 12.1k by the break, although that was as good a sit got as I then got dealt nothing and blinded away before pushing with 33 against a limper only to end up 4-way all-in v 99 v JJ v KK. LOL
The first table I was at was fairly quiet and then the second table contained a couple of know-it-all loud mouths. In fact the first time I showed my cards was against one of these, when a low board with a pair was checked all the way to the river. Gobby number 1 put a big almost pot sized bet out, and I just knew he had none of it, so called with my AJ. He then did that annoying thing of waiting for me to turn my cards over first, which wasn't happening, then he said "I just got an ace" and showed the Ace only. I continued to wait. "Can you beat that?", well even if i could I was still going to wait and see his other card. eventually he flipped over a 4 I think , and i turned over my AJ to take it down. Murmers of "good call" went round the table.
About 3 hands later I made a small pre-flop raise and continuation bet, checked the turn and then bluffed at the river and had to endure a stare from Gobby number2 before he passed and I took it down. The fun then started as for 10 minutes over the next 4 or so hands these two analyzed what I could have been holding based on how I played it. They did this out loud and kept asking me if i had so and so, I just smiled and shrugged my shoulders. Out of about 10 different hands they suggested , not once did they suggest I could have been bluffing. I had these 2 well spooked !

As I mentioned , this was a sabout as good as it got and I faded away and eventually out a couple of hours later. So off to give cash a bit of a go. They had no Omaha going which was a real dissapointment , because that is what I was looking forward to , but sat down at a fairly lively NLHE game. A few young lads here, students I think, but typically LAG players who weren't bad. One of them had the most unreal luck, losing 4 or 5 big pots when holding the best of it.
The funny moment here is to do with the dealer. The DTD dealers were good, but this one was a young , probably 20yo milky bar kid look alike. Anyway a hand played out where I bet small every street and won at showdown. He then went to pass the chips to the guy on my right. A few quick "hoy"s and I got the chips. The young upstart then told me "you need to keep your cards directly in front of you sir". I thought they were but just took the piss with a " ooh, I am sorry, won't happen again". At this point he started with " well i cant gaurantee you will get your chips next time sir, you do need to keep the cards in front of you".
I was a little flabergasted at this point, but without making a big scene, I launched into him quietly but just loud enough for the table to hear. " So lets get this straight, you hand the pot to the wrong player and I am the one who gets a telling-off. I thought you just might have noticed it was mine, seeing as I bet every street and I flipped the cards over. Just thought as dealer that is something you might have noticed, you know who is betting and who has cards, that is the sort of thing dealers often notice ....thats all" and gave him a big smile. Rest of the table were pissing themselves and the lad never had the balls to spoke to me again all evening. DTD allows tipping of the dealers , but strangely enough this lad never got a tip from me.

As for the cash, must have had almost 20 pairs and never hit trips once! Had two big all-in hands, one where I got lucky with AJ pre-flop shove against QQ and then one where I was unlucky on the turn with top pair and upndown straight draw against a guy who hit 2 pair on the river.

enough for tonight, tea is ready.

The DTD experience

Went to Dusk till Dawn on Saturday and finally found out what all the fuss is about. Briefly, my thoughts:

1. It is perfect in terms of orgaisation of poker. Well lit, lots of tables(45in total) and space between them, chips are excellent quality, dealers were good, lots of Plasma screens to see clock/state of play, good structure in the time allowed inc. antes, tournament started bang on time and breaks were set clearly, lots of cash games going on later (7 i think, although only Omaha available was part of a heavy dealers choice game that i didn't feel comfortable playing), valets were very pleasant and always around and asking, parking is plentiful right by the door too which is just as well cause it was pissing it down.

2. Didn't have the atmosphere I was expecting/heard about/hoped for. There was 110 in my tourney , but in that room it felt as though the place was more than half empty...well it was more than half empty! The bar and restaurant are a little on the small side I think for when they have a bigger tourney and there is no where to lounge out, bar is just tall stools. The players were nearly all male and 25-55 , like me I guess, but the lack of younger players and women ( also only spotted one female dealer) I felt was noticeable on the atmosphere. Also so many of the players were know-it-alls, I know you get them everywhere, but I think DTD must attract them and these guys were constantly analysing hands out loud, guessing opponents cards out loud, bragging about there play esp. when they won a hand by telling people how well they played it and of course the favourite ~ telling others what they should have done. I saw quite a few of these know-it-alls make mistakes too.

So in all the atmosphere didn't really get to me, probably be a lot better for a tourney with a heap more players. Wiil defo go there for an APAT event.

As for the comp, I will do a report here later, and there are a couple of good little tales in there too, that should keep my 2 blog viewers returning. LOL

Lost connection on the Sunday night when I returned, so Snapper played the £40k for us, but got very ul when he got it all in on the flop with trip 4s v overpair QQ, only for the lady to appear on the river.

As for my cash games on Poker plex, been mixing it up a bit with Om8 $2/4 and also playing some stud @ $1/2 or $2/4. Been pretty steady really. My omaha graph for march shows a slight loss, but im posting the graph anyway just cause I love this Poker Grapher. Check back later Tue or Wed for DTD report

Sneaks features in Inside Poker

Got Inside Poker delivered today and there in the middle page spread is a feature on Walsall GUKPT and a little pic and bio on Sneaks. Nothing much, but nice little pic even if he does look a bit of a spiv with the shades sitting on top of his cap and it also gives Barrow a mention.

It was Pokerplex satellite to the £40k tonight. A massive 15 runners , 3 of which never turned up, all trying for 5 seats @£120 each. For the 5th time out of 6...... yours truly got the job done ......now I just have to learn how to cash in the main event on Sunday.

I am "carfund"

Hopefully that evening I will be writing about a double success at DTD and this one.

Its a Dogs life ....no more

Not much to write about recently, hence no posts.

The wife has put a little pressure on me playing all evening, every evening. So evening games will have to take a bit of a back seat and as Blue Square have now cut the added money from their GUKPT league tournaments , I probably wont play those any more. Even missed the Forim Challenge on Virgin last night.

However I will play the £40k freeroll tonight on Poker Plex. My general play there has been a bit slow this month and down slightly, but still intend to make the $500 bonus by months end.

Had a phone call from my Mum yesterday along the lines of " I have some really bad news", I was expecting the worst, especially as my Gran is on her last legs, but it turns out it was one of my Mums dogs had to be put down. "Thank God for that" I thought unsympathetically, as it was a relief for me, however my mum was obviously a little distressed about it. She was 13 yo , so not bad for a dog, but I guess just like me and SKY Sports, dogs and owners aren't too easily seperatedand.

Anyway I get kicked out of the house Saturday night for a girls gathering, so I'm going to return down to Derby visit my Mum and best mate down there, but while there it would be rude not to have a trip into www.dusktilldawnpoker.com/ for the Saturday night £50 game. Looking forward to this as I have heard a lot of positive reports about the place and it is firmly established already as the Number one venue in the UK if not Europe for poker. Will report back here on Sunday night, with hopefully a bit of success.

Tourney Night

Had Saturday night in, so played 3 little numbers on Pokerstars. I was in the top 10 on all of them after about an hour and half, which is quite a feet when you consider the number of runners~ one had 3000+, 4000+ and 400+. However fell away in all of them , and although cashed in each never got close to the final tables and the real money. Still I actually quite enjoyed playing them, which is a nice change to the recent MTTs I have played which have all felt a bit robot like. No doubt that Stars does have the best MTTs

Preferred Player

Just after I told you how wonderful PokerPlex was for bonus and rakeback, the whole Crypto network has had a tighten up and reduced the maximum bonuses on their websites to $200 with now 8 MPPs needed per $.
Why would they do this and put all the grinders like me off their site or at least limit the amount they will want to play? Why?
I couldn't think of an answer so I sent them an email asking "why?"
This morning I got this reply:

Alias = carfund
Account Number = x0x0x0x0x0

Hi Jon,

Thanks for your email.

I can confirm you are definitely one of our preferred players and your account, bonuses and rakeback will not change from your current level. You will still get up to $1,000 Monthly Bonus and 50% Rakeback. You should also have received an email to this effect. If you have not, please let me know and I will resend it.

Best regards,

Scott.
Poker Plex.

Preferred player , sounds grand, then I realised this might be a sign of respect for my play or they could be thinking 'sucker' dont want to lose this guy. LOL

Anyway do hope this means I can continue to bankroll build like previous months and hopefully my Om8 will continue to go tfrom strength to strength.

Last nights tourneys were a bit dissapointing, crashed early in the WSOP f/roll, made my usual never looked like cashing 100th/400 in the £40k and finished 2 off the money in the BlSq added money.

Had a bit of fun today, when I discovered a little scam going on PartyPoker Black Jack site with their bonuses that they periodically try and tempt you back with. Anyway after experimenting and working out how the scam worked, ended $81 up thru it. Even got Honeymonster $20 odd on his site too.
The PartyPoker marketing teams strategy is working though, I WILL be logging into Party more often now. But just to see if they have sent me another little bonus. Hehehehe.
If you have a bonus waiting in Party, and want to bonus whore it up with no risk, then get in touch.

OOOOh Graphs !

Just downloaded PokerGrapher, which is an add-on for PokerTracker. I have seen all these fancy graphs about so thought it was time I got sorted. So here is the first one, Last Months Omaha8 $2/$4, which clearly shows the way I seem to have "clicked" at this game in the last couple of weeks.

Expect to see a few more of these in the future.

Right off to finish Mothers Day pampering offf for the wifey and then sitting down to play the Crypto £40k and the WSOP freeroll.

Come on deal 'em nice Dealer
